Italian Delight

I got this recipe from my cousin who in turn got it from my Aunt who says there was a note on the original recipe that it came from my Great Aunt Florence Martin from Boston in the 1930's.

I have, of course, revised the recipe to my taste and time schedule.

This is a delicious casserole that has become a family favorite around here!

Here is my favorite in the lineup of new soups I've been making lately.

I love a good, hearty vegetable beef soup and this one hits the spot for sure.

Pasta e Fagioli Soup

If you know anything about me you know I LOVE soup.

I love soup in the Spring. I love soup in the Fall. I love soup in the Winter. And I even love soup in the middle of summer!

I love everything about soup.  The process of making it, the slow simmer of it on the stove.  The total comfort you get from a bowl and especially the warm delicious way it fills you up without giving you that overstuffed feeling.

Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup

There's nothing like a big bowl of comfort on a cold day, right?

Well today was cool and breezy so I decided it was the perfect day for homemade soup.

And what better way to use a store bought rotisserie chicken than in a pot of soup.

Lemon Chicken Orzo Soup

I LOVE SOUP!

Do you love soup too?

I mean I REALLY love soup and order it even when it's 108 degrees outside in the middle of summer.

There is something very comforting to the body and soul when you eat a bowl of soup. It's like pulling up a warm and toasty blanket on a cold night.

So with my love of soup in the forefront of my mind, I'm always on the lookout for new and interesting recipes.

I found this recipe over at Damn Delicious and knew I had to give it a try.

Melt in your Mouth Crock Pot BBQ Ribs

I'm finally back after several months off planning my daughters wedding, whew!

I have missed you guys and blogging so much lately and with the way technology changes with the wind it'll be a miracle if I can even remember how to write a post.

With only three of us living at home most days I decided it was time to get myself a new (smaller) crock pot.  And beings as I LOVE my All Clad 7qt. slow cooker I decided to try the All Clad 4 Qt. Slow Cooker for smaller meals.  Both are available at Williams Sonoma or Amazon.

Cold Weather Comfort Foods

Here in California it's jumping into the mid 60's and we've even had a few days in the low 70's lately but I know there are many other parts of the US and around the world that are having actual Winter weather.

Some parts of the US are having extreme winter weather too, with things like rain and snow (haven't seen either of those in awhile!).

I love having comfort food during those cold days and nights in the form of soups, stews, and chili's so I thought you guys would like some easy to prepare and super yummy ideas for when the weather turns cold and crisp in your neck of the woods.

Swiss Steak

I love comfort food.  Especially in the Fall and Winter.

I break out my Dutch ovens and my Crock Pot and go to town on cooking scrumptious meals.

This is a dinner my mom always cooked when we were growing up and I haven't made it in years.

I was in the mood for something slow cooked which mashed potatoes and gravy the other night so I remembered this recipe and oh my was it delicious!

Does Swiss Steak take you back to when you were growing up?

What do you remember your mom cooking as a comfort food that you'd like to see again?  Let me know; I'd love to try and re-create some of the dishes.
