M&M Sugar Cookie Holiday Bars

I've been having a great time this past week coming up with all kinds of reinvented fun holiday desserts.

You could easily make these for any holiday just by swapping out the color of the M&M's.

Several years ago I tried my hand at a "Gourmet Food Gifts in a bag" business.  I set up at several craft fairs every year for about 7 years.  While it lasted, it was a very fun business and all my mixes sold really well; but it was extremely time consuming.  So I decided to start a blog and share all my recipes with everyone instead.....And the rest is history........

Were we just not as inventive back then as we are with names today?

I can't figure out why my Magic Cookie Bars are still called 7-layer bars.

I've NEVER actually put 7 of anything in them, lol.

I've decided to make a few new holiday variations on those cookie bars because they are so tasty and super easy to make.

I know, I know, I'm late again!  I have no excuse except that I COMPLETELY forgot! (sigh)

I'm beginning to think getting a wee bit older really does suck the memory right out of you.  I used to never even have to write things down.  Not even for appointments that were months away.

And now....I can't even remember to schedule my bi-weekly party, ugh.

Oh, well I guess I'll have to start setting a calender reminder like I do for everything else!

Pancake & Fruit Kabobs and a Kizmos Giveaway

I'm a total sucker for the cute, tiny, gizmos and gadgets available in the stores.

I'm the one (not the kiddos) that needs the family friendly isle in the grocery store or Target because I can always find something cutesie or gadgety to come home with me.

So when I was given the opportunity to review these cute and easy-to-use Kizsmo products I was thrilled.

Their slogan is "Get Happy" and I'm totally on board with that.  Being in the kitchen cooking or baking with my new Kizmos tools definitely makes me happy!  Who wouldn't be happy with their kitchen tools always smiling at them?

I have been using these cuties since the day I got them and you'll definitely see them in many pictures to come.

Coconut White Chocolate Cookies & SRS

This marks the third month of the Surprise Recipe Swap that I've participated in.  This is a fun swap put together by Jutta over at Hungry Little Girl and so far I'm having a great time participating.  If you would like to join in the fun be sure to click on the SRS link at the bottom of this post.

This month I was given Cindy's Recipes and Writings blog.  Cindy is a Freelance writer who is an avid gardener, cook, mother, and grandmother. Cindy's blog is full of wonderful gardening posts, awesome posts about knowing your herb's and spices, and yummy recipes.  I had a hard time deciding between her Mini Stuffed Bagel Bites (homemade), Ham & String Beans Slow Cooker Style and her Coconut Sweetheart Cookies.

Well as you can see I chose her Coconut Sweetheart Cookies for a couple of reasons.  The first being because I've had my Coconut oil sitting in the cupboard for a few months now wondering what I was going to use it in.  And the second reason being because I LOVE coconut and just had to try these cookies!

I adapted the recipe slightly because I didn't have all the ingredients and for some unknown reason it didn't work the first time.

These cookies are amazing and I will definitely make them again and again.

Quiche Cups (crust-less)

I have been trying to come up with easy and nutritious breakfast foods to put in the hands of my family before they all head out in different directions every morning.

I also want something I can warm up and send with them instead of a granola bar on their way out the door.

I usually only cook Breakfast Casseroles, Quiche's, Breakfast Burritos, etc. on the weekends because I need the time to prep it, cook it, and serve it.

Now that Winter seems to have just skipped over us and the flowers are all in full bloom it sure seems like the perfect time to try out some Springtime beverages.

Caramel Apple Crumble Dessert

In my opinion there isn't too much better than caramel and apples together in a warm dessert.

I remember when I first tasted this recipe.

My friend Traci brought it over for a scrapbooking event I was having at my house about 15 years ago.  It was so delicious that I got the recipe from her the next day and made it several times over the next year or so.

And I'm no stranger to those little Everyday Food cookbook magazine things.  What do you call them?  I call anything with recipes a cookbook, lol.

So while looking for new cookie recipes I ran across this yummy recipe in the Holiday 2006 issue.

I was looking for a good slice & bake recipe because I get tired of always making recipes that require me to scoop all the dough.  Sometimes a girl just wants to roll it up, chill it in the fridge, then slice and bake all in one shot.

Happy Friday!!!

Probably the most celebrated day of the week just for being a day!

I've had a pretty good day, except for my cold shower this morning because the BRAND NEW water heater decided to break down today!  

Oh well, the dishes can wait I say! 

Why DO we use hot water for dishes anyway?  Does anyone know?  I mean were using soap and water right?  So why does it have to be hot?

I've heated several kettles full of water just to wash a few things and I'm DONE!  Thank goodness we're going to our mountain retreat and the parts to fix it will be here when we get back on Sunday.  Poor dog sitter, they'll have to shower at their house, lol.
