I'm the one (not the kiddos) that needs the family friendly isle in the grocery store or Target because I can always find something cutesie or gadgety to come home with me.
So when I was given the opportunity to review these cute and easy-to-use Kizsmo products I was thrilled.
Their slogan is "Get Happy" and I'm totally on board with that. Being in the kitchen cooking or baking with my new Kizmos tools definitely makes me happy! Who wouldn't be happy with their kitchen tools always smiling at them?
I have been using these cuties since the day I got them and you'll definitely see them in many pictures to come.
I feel that kids are more willing to eat what they have a hand in cooking. Don't you agree? So if you'd like your kiddos to get more involved with the cooking process of the family meals then I suggest you definitely enter this drawing. I have had more fun in the kitchen since I opened my box of goodies.
My favorite by far are the measuring cups because they have a wide bowl base and are easy to use. I can't wait to get some matching measuring spoons to go with them.
So, you're probably wondering about the Pancake & Fruit Kabobs picture at the top, right? This was one of the first recipes I made with my new Kizmos.
I have been seeing all kinds of different Kabobs on Pinterest lately so I decided to make some for breakfast.
They were a hit and I'll definitely be making them again. I'm sure all the kiddos out there will love this idea so give it a try and let me know what you think.
Here's what you need for the Pancake Kabobs:
1-1/2 cups flour
1-1/2 Tbs. sugar
1 Tbs. baking powder
1 egg, at room temperature
3 Tbs. butter, unsalted, melted
1-1/4 cups milk, at room temperature, I use Vit D when baking
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup fresh strawberries, quartered
1/2 cup fresh blackberries, washed
Skewers
For my Homemade Butter Pecan Syrup:
1 cup maple syrup of your choice, I used Log Cabin
2 Tbs. butter
1/2 cup pecans, chopped
First wash the fruit and quarter the strawberries then set aside.
To make the pancakes sift the flour, baking soda, and sugar into a medium bowl and set aside.
I used a mesh sieve and tapped on the side to sift the dry ingredients together.
In a measuring cup for easy clean up and less dishes, mix the milk, egg, vanilla, and melted butter.
Add the wet ingredients to the dry and stir to completely combine, scraping down the sides as you go.
Heat a griddle on medium high and when it's hot, ladle the batter into small silver dollar size pancakes. I used my 1/4 cup measuring cup and got two to three pancakes from each cupful.
When the bubbles on the pancakes have mostly popped then they are ready to flip.
The pancakes should be a golden brown and only flipped once.
When they are soft to the touch they are ready to be moved to a plate. Repeat until all the pancakes are cooked.
Makes approximately 30 or so silver dollar pancakes.
To assemble your Kabobs make sure everything is ready to go.
Starting with a pancake, push onto the skewer then alternate with the strawberries, pancakes, and blackberries. You can, of course, use any fruit you would like. Sausage or linguica would be awesome too!
While you are cooking the pancakes you can start the Butter Pecan Syrup.
In a small skillet heat 1 cup maple syrup, 2 Tbs. butter, and 1/2 cup pecans.
Bring to a boil, reduce to a simmer and cook for about 5 minutes.
Serve while warm. I drizzled it over the top of the Kabobs and it was plenty of syrup.
Makes 1-1/4 - 1-1/2 cups approximately.
