Broccoli Cheddar Soup

Every once in a while I decide to do a recipe re-do.  I have revamped this recipe for Broccoli Cheddar Soup with a few new ingredients and a couple of new pictures.

A couple of days ago it finally started getting cooler here in Northern California and I for one am super happy about that because that means soup for me.

Last night I made this for dinner using my original Broccoli Cheddar Soup and making a few changes to it make it even more delicious.

Italian Delight

I got this recipe from my cousin who in turn got it from my Aunt who says there was a note on the original recipe that it came from my Great Aunt Florence Martin from Boston in the 1930's.

I have, of course, revised the recipe to my taste and time schedule.

This is a delicious casserole that has become a family favorite around here!

Pasta e Fagioli Soup

If you know anything about me you know I LOVE soup.

I love soup in the Spring. I love soup in the Fall. I love soup in the Winter. And I even love soup in the middle of summer!

I love everything about soup.  The process of making it, the slow simmer of it on the stove.  The total comfort you get from a bowl and especially the warm delicious way it fills you up without giving you that overstuffed feeling.

Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup

There's nothing like a big bowl of comfort on a cold day, right?

Well today was cool and breezy so I decided it was the perfect day for homemade soup.

And what better way to use a store bought rotisserie chicken than in a pot of soup.

Lemon Chicken Orzo Soup

I LOVE SOUP!

Do you love soup too?

I mean I REALLY love soup and order it even when it's 108 degrees outside in the middle of summer.

There is something very comforting to the body and soul when you eat a bowl of soup. It's like pulling up a warm and toasty blanket on a cold night.

So with my love of soup in the forefront of my mind, I'm always on the lookout for new and interesting recipes.

I found this recipe over at Damn Delicious and knew I had to give it a try.

Wendy's Copycat Chili

Doesn't this potato just scream dinner to you?

I don't know about you but I will find any excuse to include potatoes in my daily consumption of food, including trying out new recipes.

I found this recipe over at The Slow Roasted Italian and knew I had to give it a try, especially after my Aunt already tried it and said it was fabulous.

I've never actually HAD Wendy's chili but I know this one is a winner even if I have nothing to compare it to.

This is a meal that can be cooked up in under an hour so it's perfect for weeknight meals.

Cold Weather Comfort Foods

Here in California it's jumping into the mid 60's and we've even had a few days in the low 70's lately but I know there are many other parts of the US and around the world that are having actual Winter weather.

Some parts of the US are having extreme winter weather too, with things like rain and snow (haven't seen either of those in awhile!).

I love having comfort food during those cold days and nights in the form of soups, stews, and chili's so I thought you guys would like some easy to prepare and super yummy ideas for when the weather turns cold and crisp in your neck of the woods.

Hot Cocoa Mix

When the cold weather hits, do you snuggle up with a cup of hot cocoa?

I do!  Especially at night when the lights are down and the house is quiet.  That's the best time for Hot Cocoa and a good book.

Here is a recipe I came up with for making homemade hot cocoa instead of that instant stuff.  This has a deep, rich flavor that all the chocoholics out there will love!

Rosemary Red Wine Pot Roast

You know that feeling when you finally get something so perfectly right that you just want to make it again and again?

Well this is that recipe for me.  I LOVE pot roast and I have found the perfect combination of flavors that compliment the roast to a T!

If you've never had pot roast before, you don't know what you're missing. And if you are one of those people who doesn't really care for it, please give this recipe a try and let me know what you think, because I think it's amazing!

I'm sorry the picture doesn't do it justice but it's just one of those foods that isn't very pretty to photograph, lol.

Homemade Chili

Well Fall has officially arrived!  We've finally been having some blustery days and the nights are downright freezing!

When the weather get so cold I like to put on a big pot of homemade chili and bake up a batch of cornbread to go along.

The past few weeks have had me making lots of yummy comfort foods.  I made a BIG pot of my delicious Chicken Enchilada Soup, a smaller pot of my scrumptious
Chicken Tortellini Soup and now this hearty Homemade Chili to go along with all the meals to keep you nice and toasty when it's cold outside.

Chicken Tortellini Soup

I'm always on the lookout for new ways to make soup, because I LOVE soup!

And I'm talking all year long too.  Not just soup in the winter.

I can stroll into Panera in the blazing 110 degree weather and STILL get the broccoli cheddar soup ~ YUM!

I thought it was about time I created a few new ones of my own and this is the second one I've made lately and they were both amazing!

This one was so delicious I actually ate a bowl for breakfast the day after I made it, lol.

Chicken Enchilada Soup

I love soup!

I actually eat it all year long, but I especially love soup in the Fall and Winter.

It has turned cold here in California in the last few weeks, well at least cold in the morning and evenings.  The days are still crazy.

But it's definitely soup weather to me!

My daughter and I have been craving some sort of Chicken Tortilla or Chicken Enchilada Soup so this is the one I came up with the other day.

Broccoli Cheddar Soup

Well now that the rain has finally shown up, I made some soup today.

I have been trying to perfect my Broccoli Cheddar Soup for a while now and I feel that today I made the best one yet.  I hope you'll give it a try and enjoy this soup as much as I did.

Cheesy Potato Soup

One of my favorite songs of the season is "Baby, it's cold outside" and that's exactly how I felt all day yesterday while the hubby and I finished putting up the Christmas (Yes, I actually said Christmas, cause that's how I roll) decorations.

One of my favorite, favorite, favorite soups is Cheesy Potato Soup and it took me a few tries to perfect this recipe and now that I have it, I make it frequently; even in the blazing summer.
