Now, I don't want to be arrested for serving "crack" to the teenagers so I just call it Popcorn Candy Crack because let's face it, it IS addicting! Here's the batch I made for Easter.
Here's what you need:
2 bags microwave popping corn, popped, any flavor
2 cups tiny twists pretzels, measured then broken into pieces
1 (12 oz) bag Wilton white candy melts
1 oz candy sprinkles
1 (12 oz) bag M&M's, plain
Pop two bags of microwave popping corn and pour into a large bowl (without the un-popped kernels). Add the broken pretzel pieces and stir to incorporate.
Place the whole bag of candy melts into a medium micro safe bowl and melt on med for 30 second intervals; stirring after each 30 seconds, until melted and smooth. Do NOT over heat or it will seize and become hard. About 2-3 minutes total, depending on the microwave.
Pour the melted candy over the popcorn/pretzel mixture and stir until completely coated.
Line a large baking sheet (half-sheet size) with parchment and pour the coated mixture out onto parchment and spread out in a single layer.
Sprinkle on toppings. I used about half of a 2 oz. jar of pastel sprinkles and a 12 oz bag of M&M's.
Let dry completely before placing into serving container. I think it looks prettier with the M&M's not coated with the white candy coating, but then if you want them to stick in the mix like the pretzels, go ahead and mix them in. Break into pieces after dry and serve.
I have made this a million times and tried it with many different candies.
My favorite is with popcorn, Hot Tamales, M&M's and candy coating. Ya know, the whole hot, sweet, salty thing! Works for me!
Enjoy!
