I have always liked a huge (and I really mean huge, just ask my family) assortment of goodies to serve at a party.
I mean really, who wants to go to a party and have only three things to choose from? Not me. And I certainly don't want to serve my guests just three things either.
I've been trying out new recipes for the big day because I think we are having a party. And you know me, I love any reason to cook, bake, or entertain. It's really a love of feeding others and knowing they are getting enough to eat. My hubby is always saying "just make some weenies in BBQ sauce and some dip and we'll be fine" but I NEED to make more than that. Right?
I actually made these delicious little guys over the summer for my kiddos birthday party and never really got good pictures so I made them again last weekend when the 49ers were playing their last game. Oh, and those other three teams too, lol!
They are a hit every time I make them and they'll definitely be on my Superbowl table!
Oh and don't let the name fool ya, they're not actually spicy!
Here's what you need:
1 Lb bacon, cut into thirds
13 oz. package of Lil' Beef Smokies
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 Tbs. chili powder
toothpicks
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, or you'll have a huge mess that'll need a hammer and chisel to get off the baking sheet.
In a bowl mix the brown sugar and chili powder and set aside.
Cut bacon into thirds and roll each lil' smoky in a piece of bacon and secure with a toothpick.
Place the bacon wrapped smoky in the bowl with the brown sugar mix and press the mixture onto all sides of the bacon. The more coating the tastier they are.
Place on the parchment lined baking sheet and sprinkle the remaining sugar mixture over the tops.
Bake for 30 - 40 minutes (it took about 35 total for my oven) or until the bacon is cooked through and they are bubbly and browned.
Serves - Never enough!
Enjoy!

Yummy! I agree. You need several savory, saveral crispy, a spicy or two and a sweet or three for a good selection at the Super Bowl Party. Then of course a bowl of chili or pizza.
