Classic Chocolate Chip Cookies

Sometimes you just need a classic cookie in your corner.

After trying lots and lots of "the best cookie in the world" recipes I always come back to the Classic Toll House recipe with just a few adjustments.

I think these are the easiest and yummiest (is that even a word?) cookies ever.  And the best part is that they are so consistent.  Every time I make them they turn out the same.....Perfect!

Here's what you need:

1 cup butter flavored Crisco
1cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup sugar
1 large egg, at room temperature
1 Tbs. vanilla extract
2 Tbs. half & half
2-1/4 cup flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1-1/2 tsp. kosher salt
2 cups. semi sweet chocolate chips or milk chocolate chips
1 cup pecans, chopped (optional)

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silpat and set aside.

In a bowl mix the flour, baking soda, and salt and set aside.

In the bowl of a stand mixer cream the shortening and sugars until light and fluffy.

Add the egg and vanilla and mix well; scraping down the sides as you go.

Add the flour mixture and beat until just incorporated.

Add the chocolate chips and nuts if adding them, and mix until just combined.

Place 2 inches apart on the parchment lined baking sheet using a medium cookie scoop.

Bake for 10 - 12 minutes or until desired doneness.
Move to a cooling rack and serve warm or at room temperature.

Mmmm mmmm chocolate chip cookies. Perfect with a tall ice cold glass of milk!

Store in an airtight container.  Perfect warmed in the microwave for about 10 seconds.

Enjoy!

Serves 3 - 4 dozen depending on size
