Rice Krispy Pumpkins

Need a super easy, fast, and delicious treat for Halloween this year?  Try these Rice Krispy Pumpkin treats.

Perfect for your little one's classmates or for giving out to family and friends.

These take about 15 minutes to make a batch and the best thing is that you can make them any size ranging from bite size to baseball size and larger.

Here's what you need:

1 - 10 oz. bag marshmallows
3 Tbs. butter
5 cups rice krispy cereal, up to 6 cups if needed
a few drops of orange food gel or coloring
tootsie rolls, cut into 1/2 inch pieces for the stems

Place a piece of parchment paper on the counter.

In a large pot melt the marshmallows and butter over low heat.

Heat until completely combined and melted most of the way about 5-7 minutes.

Add the food coloring gel and stir until completely combined and the marshmallows are completely melted.
Add rice krispy cereal and stir until completely coated with marshmallow mixture.

Let the mixture cool a few minutes then spray your hands with cooking spray or use some room temperature butter to coat your hands.  Form into a ball in your hands then place on parchment.  Don't keep it in your hands too long because if it stays warm it keeps falling apart.  I found that the cooler the krispy treat mixture was the easier it was to make into pumpkins.  BUT don't let it cool to much or it'll stick to the pan.

Push a little indent in the top of the krispy treat and press the tootsie roll stem into the top of the pumpkin.

I used the long skinny tootsies for the little pumpkins (about the size of a golf ball) and the short fat tootsies for the baseball sized pumpkins.  If you want to get fancy use green tinted frosting to make leaves.

One batch made 6 large and 3 small pumpkins.  If making just the small ones you will probably get about 24.
These were so easy to whip up and every kiddo(big and small) I've ever met LOVES a rice krispy treat!

Serves - approx 7 large to 24 small

Enjoy!
