Guacamole Burgers

I love a good homemade burger and I've been wanting to try out different flavors.

I figured with my love of Mexican food I couldn't go wrong with a burger with all the great flavors of Mexican food wrapped up in a soft bun.

In the past I have made Beef & Cheddar SlidersAloha Burgers, and Jack Daniels BBQ Bacon Burgers and while I consider all of these burgers amazing, I think my favorite so far are these Guacamole Burgers.

If you love Mexican food like I do, you'll love the combination of Mexican flavors and good old American Burger.

Here's what you need:

3/4 pounds 80/20 percent fat ground beef
3/4 pounds 85/15 percent fat ground beef
1 packet taco seasoning, your favorite I usually use Taco Bell or Ortega
2 tsp. chili powder
2 tsp. cumin
1/2 tsp. salt
2 Tbs. water
cast iron pan for best flavor
4 hamburger buns
Pico de Gallo
fried tortilla strips with seasoning or crushed tortilla chips
grated Monterey Jack and/or grated cheddar cheese
Cast Iron skillet for frying the burgers

Before I make the patties I fry up some homemade tortilla chip strips.  Cut Flour tortillas into strips about 1/4-1/2 inch thick and 3 inches long.
Heat oil in a pan on medium high until hot (test with a tortilla strip, if it starts sizzling it's hot enough).  Place several strips in the pan and fry for a minute or two on each side until brown.
Remove to a paper towel lined plate and immediately sprinkle with a little salt or taco seasoning. Repeat until all are done and set aside.

To make the patties:

Place the beef, seasoning, and water in a bowl and mix lightly with clean hands until the seasoning is incorporated. Make into 4 even patties.
Pre heat the cast iron skillet on medium high until hot.

Place the burgers int the pan and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side WITHOUT ever pressing on the patty..
Only ever turn meat one time. (I only cooked one this day but would normally cook all four at a time)
Place on a plate while you assemble the burger.

Place the patty on the bun.  Top the patty with homemade Pico de Gallo.
Top the Pico de Gallo with Homemade Guacamole and fried tortilla strips seasoned with taco seasoning.
Top with shredded cheese and the second half of the bun.
You have now created the world's best Guacamole Burger so ENJOY!
I can't tell you how amazingly delicious this was.  You really need to make some for you and your family!
