We LOVE P.F. Chang's restaurant! They have the best Kung Pao Chicken, Lettuce Wraps, Mongolian Beef, etc. as I'm sure you all know. But have you tried their Garlic Noodles yet?
My daughter's best friend ordered them one night when we were there and we also ordered the regular Lo Mein that we always do.
So when dinner arrived I decided to TRY the garlic noodles knowing I wouldn't like them as much as the other ones. Well let me tell you how wrong I was! lol I LOVED the garlic noodles and have been ordering them ever since.
So beings as I'm on an Asian food kick I thought I'd try making them.
I searched the regular sites, Food.com and Pinterest, and found a few very similar recipes so I mashed them all together and made one myself and I think they are amazing!
Here's what you need:
1/2 pound vermicelli noodles, cooked and rinsed and set aside
4 garlic cloves, minced
3 tsp. sugar
2 tsp. white vinegar
3/4 tsp. red pepper flakes
1 Tbs. canola oil
2 Tbs. chopped cilantro
2 green onions sliced
3/4 cup water
1 tsp. chicken bouillon
1 tsp. sugar
2 tsp. cooking sherry
1 tsp. oyster sauce
3 - 4 Tbs. lite soy sauce
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cornstarch
Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add the pasta. Cook as directed then rinse and set aside.
Mix in the red pepper flakes and cilantro and set aside.
In a bowl or glass measuring cup mix the simmer sauce ingredients and set aside.
Heat 1 tablespoons of canola or vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet.
Add garlic and stir while cooking no more than 30 seconds. Garlic gets bitter when burnt.
Add the vinegar and sugar and STAND BACK so you don't inhale the fumes. Fumes from vinegar can make you cough really bad. Stir together.
Add the noodles and the simmer sauce and stir until coated and a little thickened, about 2 minutes.
Garnish with sliced green onions and fresh cilantro and serve alongside your favorite meal.
Yum yum yum garlic noodles :)
Serves 2 to 4 as a side dish.
