Jack Daniels BBQ Bacon Burger

My nod to the $6.00 burger, lol

I've been trying to round out my recipe base lately because I think I've been making way more desserts than regular meals.

Not that I'm not making lunch or cooking dinner.   I'm just not trying as many new savory recipes lately as I am trying out new sweet ones.

So, this week I decided to try some new burgers and you guys are in for a treat, especially because according to my 17 yr. old son "these are the best burgers ever". Lol, why thank you, Justin!

I was out to lunch with the hubby the other day at TGIFridays.  I ordered a Jack Daniels burger and it was A-MAZ-ING!  So I thought "I've seen the Jack Daniels BBQ sauce in the grocery store and I bet I can make just as tasty a burger at home."

Well, I found four BBQ sauces from Jack Daniels at the store and I opened two as soon as I walked in the door.  They aren't the same flavor as the sauce used in the restaurant (did we really think it would be, duh?) but they were pretty darn tasty.  I picked the Hickory Brown Sugar BBQ sauce to use on these burgers.

I'm pretty sure I've said this before but I'll say it again, I think cast iron is the best way to cook a burger. They get a great char on the outside and stay nice and juicy on the inside.

Give these a try and you're family will tell you "these are the best burgers you've ever cooked!" too.

Here's what you need:

1-1/2 pounds ground beef; I always use an 80/20 for the most flavor
1 tsp. kosher salt
1 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. onion powder
2 Tbs. Worcestershire sauce
several grinds of the pepper mill
8 slices bacon, pre cooked crispy
4 hamburger buns or Ciabatta rolls
4 slices cheese, I use American but your favorite kind will be fine
lettuce
thin sliced red onion
tomato
Jack Daniels Hickory Brown Sugar BBQ sauce

Preheat a cast iron pan on medium high.

In a bowl mix the ground beef with the spices using a wooden spoon or your fingers. Do not over mix or the burgers will be tough.  Divide into 4 patties.
 
Cook in skillet for 4-5 minutes per side for well done (the only meat I eat well done is a burger).
In the last minute of cooking add the sliced cheese and remove from pan when the cheese is melted.
Build your burger any way you want.  I put about 1 tablespoon of the BBQ sauce on each side of the bun, add my sliced onions, then the patty and bacon.  Top with lettuce and the other half of the bun and Voila!

Serves 4 burgers

  1. Living in Canada we don't get some of your ingredients here ,Ex.
    Jack Daniels Hickory Brown Sugar BBQ sauce. But we do get a lovely selection of other sauces .My favorite one is Bullseye,or wal mart's Finest .Wondering which one of these brands would be similar to the Jack Daniels brand .

    1. I haven't used Bullseye in years but it's a good BBQ sauce. I would try any that might have a brown sugar base or a hickory base. I think the burgers are really good because of the seasoning inside and the cast iron cooking :) Thanks for stopping by
