I recycle!
I've actually been recycling for years. But only as far as in the recycling can and never really trying to re-use any of the stuff I was recycling.
So I decided to try re-using some of my recycling for other uses and LOVED how this project turned out.
Now I'm going to share my new favorite up-cycle project with you and it can become your new favorite too!
I don't know about you, but I tend to drink a little coffee with my creamer, not the other way around. My favorite creamer is the fat-free french vanilla and I like to mix it with the almond joy most days.
On any given day you will find at least two if not three new bottles of creamer in my fridge so I don't run out.
The downside to drinking SOOOOO much creamer? I have a TON of creamer bottles to recycle every month!
So with all these bottles hanging around I decided to re-use them for other things in my house.
These are the perfect way to carry snacks in the car or use for craft items that are small and tend to get lost.
Here's what you do:
First you have to remove the outside label. I just use some scissors and cut up the side a little then peel it the rest of the way.
Next, I wash the bottle with hot soapy water. Nothing worse than old milk smell in a plastic bottle, yuk!
Then, using a paper towel wrapped around a wooden spoon handle I dry it out as best I can (with lots of shaking it in the sink first). If you use REALLY hot water and shake it out as soon as it's clean most of the water and water drops will come right out. If you can't get all the water drops out, leave the bottle open on the counter for a few days and they should evaporate on their own.
Next, find fun food items or craft items to fill your bottles with.
Here are a few idea:
Food items
Cheerios
Fruit Loops
Cereal
Fishy's
Stick Pretzels
Bite sized crackers
Bite sized cookies
Nuts
Trail Mix
Granola
Pancake Batter (Storage in the fridge)
Syrup (If you buy it like I do at Costco by the gallon, lol)
Milk for a day trip (on ice)
Juice for a day trip
Craft ideas:
Buttons
Safety Pins
Paper Clips
Brads
Rivets
Thumb tacks
Change jar
If you have a hard time shaking some of these things out with the lid on, you can take the lid off when using the bottle then recap it to store.
The ideas are endless and if you have a great use for some of these bottles please share it with us in the comment section.
These make the perfect party treat for birthday's or snack packs for sporting events.
**Don't forget creamer bottles come in a variety of sizes so these are perfect for any size hands.
Enjoy!
