Michelle's Pulled Pork Sliders

Have you tried pulled pork yet?  I've made several versions of pulled pork but this one was by far my very favorite.

Now some of you will think it's too sweet and some of you will think it's not spicy enough but I have other recipes for those flavors.  With this one I was going for a true Sweet Pulled Pork flavor.

I knew I wanted to make sliders with this pork so I adjusted my other recipes to make this one just for tonight's dinner.  Needless to say I will probably make this recipe over my other ones from now on.

I also used a store bought coleslaw (gasp!) because I have only just started eating slaw and don't really want to have to mince up all that cabbage.  I thank the slaw packaging fairy's do a perfectly fine job without me infringing on their work, lol.

This is a perfect weekend meal.  It can be started in the morning and served during the day or for dinner.

Here's what you need:

3 lb. Pork Butt or Shoulder (they're the same cut of meat)
2 Tbs. canola oil
salt, pepper, and granulated garlic, for searing
2 cups root beer, I used A & W
1 cup brown sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. granulated garlic
1/2 tsp. onion powder
1 Tbs. chili powder
King's Hawaiian rolls or any other slider sized roll
Cole Slaw

Preheat oven to 275 degrees.

Sprinkle all sides of the pork butt with salt, pepper, and granulated garlic.
In a large dutch oven or stock pot that is oven proof, heat the oil on medium high and place the meat in the pan to sear.  You should hear the meat sizzle while it is searing and should take at least 5-7 minutes per side.

Add the root beer, brown sugar, and seasonings to the pot and stir to combine.  Turn the meat over at least once to coat.

Bring to a boil.  Cover and place in the oven for 3-1/2 hours.

After 3-1/2 hours the meat should fall apart when touched.  Using two forks, shred the pork, cover, and return to the oven for 30 more minutes to absorb all the liquid yumminess in the pan.

While the meat is cooking, pour the coleslaw mix into a bowl and top with Marie's coleslaw dressing.  Mix well and refrigerate until ready to use.

To assemble place some pulled pork on half the roll then top with the coleslaw and the other half of the roll.
Mmmm, these sure were delicious!

Serves - 6 - 10 people depending on how many they eat

Enjoy!
